Orthopaedic surgeon Klaus Harager and radiographer Marianne Bretlau making preparations for an MRI scan. | Skodsborg Private Hospital has a modern MRI scanner. MRI is a fantastic technology which allows the doctors to be able to see everything inside your body. Damage to the cruciate ligament or meniscus is clearly visible. The use of MRI is an invaluable tool for aiding the orthopaedic surgeon in making the correct diagnosis.
An MRI scan takes 130 images that are analysed by a consultant in radiology. In this way, there are two doctors to make the diagnosis, which ensures that the patient receives the correct treatment. | If surgery is necessary the MRI images will be used as an accurate map of the area where the surgeon will operate. This provides the best conditions to optimally plan the operation.
A general MRI examination costs DKK 3,900 (incl. VAT).
For further information you can see the MRI department's own website at: www.tesla.dk (only in Danish at the moment). | The scan is a pleasant and relaxing experience, and as you can see, you are welcome to bring along a friend. |
